April 29 2009 --> Notice of Production environment update

The UMContent production environment will be updated to the latest Content Server patches including the Site Studio component on Sunday May 17th. Sites will not be available for contribution or publishing during this time. UMContent support staff will be online performing the update so requests can be sent using the normal support form. Responses might be delayed until after the update is completed.

10gR4 refers to one component of the system (Site Studio). The rest of UMContent will remain 10gR3 (which is the latest of the core Content Server). This has been installed on the UMContent test environment for the past few weeks. Sites are supposed to be backwards compatible with this release so no code changes should have to be made to work with 10gR4. If you have something specific you'd like to test on the Test environment, please make a request using the web form and it might be possible to test it on the test environment.

This will resolve the issues with links to the Policy library website.

The latest release will also change the rich-text editor used for contribution. The editor will now be Javascript-based FCK, instead of Java-based Ephox. A demo of FCK can be found here. UTTC will be using this editor in future Contributor training sessions.

Friday 03.06.2009 --> Pending Issues Being Addressed

Issue: SSPU server fails to send out deployments.
Affected Audience: everybody, (AHC, Univ. Relations, Extension, OHR notice the most).
Current work around: restart SSPU.

Issue: SSPU removes assets (.pdfs, images, etc) from live web servers without user intervention or warning.
Affected: Everybody, (big problem noticed frequently by CCE, University Relations, AHC, OHR).
Current work around: rebuild deployment for SSPU.

Issue: Full Text search slow, fails to return search results when searching content server.
Affected: Everybody, complaints have been minimal.
Current work around: none
Solution: completed initial database tuning, more will be needed, possible indexing problem.

Issue: New users have problems loading Ephox editor in contributor mode.
Affects: new users or users setting up new machines.
Current work around: going to my profile in content server, click on site studio certificate validation.
Solution: Upgrade to 10gr4, switch to FCK (Oracle?s default editor). This editor is javascript and eliminates the need for java applets/signing of applets.
