TEST Environment Upgrade

Wednesday 04.02.2008

The Office of Information Technology will be upgrading the UMContent TEST environment on Thursday, April 10th.  This upgrade will take the full day to complete and the TEST environment will be unavailable to users during this time.  The PROD environment will not be affected by this upgrade and will continue to operate normally during this time.

This upgrade will update the environment to the newest version of Site Studio, which includes the updated editor.  In addition to Site Studio being upgraded, the core Content Server will be patched.  New functionality from the Content Server upgrade will be the ability to perform full-text search against Contributor Data Files.
OIT is also tentatively planning to install the SearchSortOptions component on the TEST environment at this time.  This component should provide better search response times by changing the method in which the Content Server searches the database.
Updated documentation for Site Studio has been posted on the UMContent Support site (http://1help.umn.edu/umcontent) along with the updated Site Studio Designer application.  The Site Studio Designer application can be installed in parallel to an existing install of Site Studio Designer.  After the upgrade, older versions of Site Studio Designer will not work with the upgraded server, although older versions will be needed to access the PROD environment until that environment is upgraded as well.

If users have any questions or comments related to the upgrade, please contact the UMContent Support staff by filling out the form available at https://www.umn.edu/onehelp/umcontent/forms/Support/index.html.
